I have been very disappointed in the pediatrician I've gone to for the past year. So I have been asking around for weeks with only ONE doctor that got a good review from anyone. Not surprisingly, this ONE doctor was recommended several times. When I learned that he is on my insurance, I was thrilled. I called for an appointment and was told that he was booked out two & a half months for a new-well-patient visit. I told them that Aiden's great grandma & grandpa Benson (who are personal friends with Dr. Guthrie's parents) had recommended him to us and that we would take the first available appointment with him in 2 months. I received a call the next day saying that Dr. Guthrie would be happy to schedule me for an appointment in one week. WOW!!! It really is WHO you know sometimes!
Our appointment was today and I can now attest to why everyone has been recommending him. A pediatrician seems like such a "not that big of a deal" thing, until you have a kid. Not only do you want to have a decent doctor for your kid, but it is SOOO nice to have a doc that lets you be a first time parent. One who will listen to you, talk to you and not just rush in and out of the room. Plus, he carried on a cute little conversation with Aiden (and Teddy, who Aiden won't go to the doctor without) instead of just pushing on his tummy and leaving. He even "checked" Teddy and said he is healthy too. I was also pleasantly surprised when he started asking me questions about this pregnancy and he wanted to make sure that I knew to make an appointment with him to see the baby within the first week after he's born. I would have asked him all about that kind of thing, but it was refreshing to have him asking/telling me! I am SOOO happy to have found Dr. Guthrie! And I appreciate all those who told me to go see him, but I especially appreciate G&G Benson for letting me drop their names! For any of you here in AZ, I definately recommend him. And he's close - at Baseline and Greenfield.

Yeah! We love Dr.Guthrie! I am so glad he got to meet Aiden! When you have your next baby, call and ask Dr.Mouser to come and do the circ and release him from the hospital, he is great-ask Dr. Guthrie! He is a hospital pediatrician and he never goes to Mercy, but my mom went to high school and college with his mom and she called him! He came to our hospital and all of the nurses kept telling us we were SO lucky, because he is the best! You have my permission to name drop, my mom is Linda Dowell! :)
Good Dr.s do make all the difference! I am glad that you found a good one! I like ours because she listens and checks up on us. We don't agree on everything, but she is happy to let me parent and just keep up on the medical part of things. I am so glad that you found one that you like. I takes a load off your shoulders huh?
I've had both pediatricians- one I did not like and now the one I love. It makes all the difference. And my pediatrician was the same with me when I was prego with Coral. It was nice to know he cared about the one in my belly too!
Afton- Dr. Guthrie said that Mouser is the attending at Chandler. He said he's awesome too. Thanks for the info. & for telling me to go see Guthrie!
We go to Gilbert Pediatrics too. Chad grew up in the same ward as Dr. Guthrie and Dr. Leavitt and was friends with their kids, and I was good friends with Dr. Auxier's kids...so we know all three, and like them all.
That is a good office. We had them for a long time until our nsurance switched. My sisted still goes there and loves Guthrie. You did good. The only thing I didn't like was the wait, but I think now that they have twilight hours I herd it is not so bad anymore.
